The resource includes: A Google Slides presentation (The link is on the lesson plan) A vocab sheet with pictures for EAL or LA students An observation sheet A sheet to record predictions and findings A lesson plan Keywords: Ice melting, salt melts ice, science experiment, visual and picture supports, special education curriculum and resources, liquid, solid, gas, melting, freezing, winter activities, states of matter This is a tried and tested lesson and my students absolutely loved it. I hope your class will too!

Living Things Classification

This resource contains a presentation on what a living thing is and also the life processes. The children are show similarities and difference between plants and animals and then are shown how they can classify these living things according to similarities/difference. The activity is then to sort the animals using a Carroll diagram and a Venn diagram. Animal picture cards are included in the resource. The worksheet is differentiated. The high ability children must come up with their own way to sort the animals. Low ability students are given heading to help them.

Habitats: presentation and worksheet

This presentation and worksheet are to be used as an initial lesson for habitats. It explains what a habitat is; and gets children to brainstorm different habitats. They also must begin to think about different animals and plants that live in the various habitats. At the end of this lesson I always give students a large piece of paper and in groups they much draw pictures depicting the habitat. This then is used as the backing paper for my display.
